Complete dosing information for drospirenone / ethinyl estradiol

One tablet daily for 28 days (24 active tablets + 4 placebo tablets). Take at the same time each day to maintain efficacy. Start on first day of menstrual period (Day 1 start) or first Sunday after menstruation begins (Sunday start — use backup contraception for 7 days). Yasmin: 21 active + 7 placebos.
Not indicated before onset of menstruation. For acne/PMDD indication: approved in postmenarchal females ≥14 years.
Contraindicated with renal insufficiency due to drospirenone's hyperkalemia risk (anti-mineralocorticoid effect increases potassium retention).
Contraindicated with hepatic disease or history of cholestatic jaundice with prior COC use. Avoid with hepatic tumors.
