Bleeding — bruising, minor cuts that bleed longer
Nausea
Muscle pain
Pruritus (itching)
Syncope (fainting)
Peripheral edema
Elevated liver enzymes (transaminases)
Major bleeding: intracranial hemorrhage, GI bleeding, retroperitoneal bleeding — potentially fatal
Spinal/epidural hematoma: in patients receiving neuraxial anesthesia or spinal puncture — risk of permanent paralysis
Thrombotic events upon abrupt discontinuation — increased stroke risk if stopped abruptly in AFib without alternative anticoagulation
Hepatotoxicity (rare)
Thrombocytopenia
Hypersensitivity reactions including anaphylaxis
Cholestasis
