Urinary tract infections (UTIs) — especially in women
Genital mycotic infections (yeast infections) — candidiasis in men and women
Increased urination (polyuria)
Thirst
Nasopharyngitis (upper respiratory infection)
Nausea
Hypoglycemia (when combined with insulin or sulfonylurea)
Diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) — may occur even with near-normal blood glucose; euglycemic DKA
Fournier's gangrene (necrotizing fasciitis of the perineum) — rare but life-threatening
Acute kidney injury — due to osmotic diuresis and volume depletion
Urosepsis and pyelonephritis
Lower limb amputations — class effect (risk may be lower with empagliflozin than canagliflozin)
Hypotension — volume depletion effects
Bone fractures (risk lower than canagliflozin)
Bladder cancer (class signal, not definitively proven)
Phimosis (in uncircumcised men)
