Managing Psoriasis Side Effects

Like all medications, Psoriasis can cause side effects. However, not everyone who takes this medication will experience them. Many side effects are dose-dependent and may improve as your body adjusts to the medication. Others may require dose adjustment or medical attention.

When to Contact Your Doctor

• Any serious side effects listed above
• Side effects that are persistent or worsen over time
• Symptoms that significantly impact your quality of life
• Any unexpected or unusual symptoms not listed here

When to Seek Emergency Care

Seek immediate emergency medical care if you experience signs of:

• Severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis): difficulty breathing, swelling of face/throat, hives
• Signs of liver problems: severe abdominal pain, jaundice, dark urine
• Severe muscle breakdown (if applicable): extreme muscle pain, weakness, dark/brown urine
• Any life-threatening symptoms described in the Serious Side Effects section above

Tips for Minimizing Side Effects

• Take the medication exactly as prescribed — don't exceed the recommended dose
• Take with food if GI side effects occur (unless contraindicated)
• Stay well hydrated
• Avoid alcohol unless your doctor says it's acceptable
• Keep a side effect diary to discuss with your pharmacist or physician
• Never stop a prescription medication due to side effects without consulting your provider
